Con Ariti is the statistical adviser for Clinical Medicine and also provides statistical advice for the Future Healthcare Journal when required.

Con is currently a Senior Statistician at OXON Epidemiology. Prior to this role, he served as a Lecturer in Public Health at Cardiff University. Before joining Cardiff University, he was a Lecturer in Medical Statistics at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

During his time at Cardiff University and LSHTM, Con contributed to a wide range of clinical trials and epidemiological studies, publishing extensively in leading journals such as The Lancet, JAMA, and The New England Journal of Medicine.

Con also has experience in health services research through his work with healthcare think tanks such as The Nuffield Trust and The Health Foundation. In addition, he was involved in NHS service redesign while working as a quantitative specialist in the healthcare practice of McKinsey & Company.

Before transitioning to a career in medical statistics in 2008, Con spent 20 years working as a statistician in the financial services industry with major companies including Mastercard and Capital One in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Con earned a first-class honours degree in Mathematics from Murdoch University in 1994. He also obtained an MSc in Medical Statistics with distinction from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, where he received the Andrew Hewitt Prize as the outstanding student of his graduating class in 2009.

In his spare time, Con enjoys watching movies, following cricket—particularly the Australian team—and playing for the Cardiff Chess Club in its lower divisions.

Ahmad Moolla is an Associate Professor at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed), part of Newcastle University. He is also a board-certified Consultant Physician in diabetes, endocrinology, and internal medicine at Royal Free Hospital.

In Malaysia, Dr. Moolla works closely with local government hospitals to deliver clinical undergraduate training to medical students. He also serves as the Training Programme Director for postgraduate house officer training.

He completed his undergraduate medical training at Imperial College London, where he also earned a first-class BSc in Pharmacology and Toxicology, as well as a Master’s degree in Education.

During his postgraduate training, Dr. Moolla held academic clinical fellowships funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), enabling him to pursue combined academic and clinical training at institutions including Barts Health NHS Trust and Imperial College London.

He completed his PhD at University of Oxford, where his research focused on novel non-invasive biomarkers and innovative treatments for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Dr. Moolla also has a strong interest in health policy and quality improvement and previously worked as a Clinical Advisor at the UK Department of Health. His current clinical research interests include diabetes, obesity, and MASLD.
