Dr Roger Chung is currently Associate Professor of the School of Public Health and Primary Care of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). A social epidemiologist by training, his research uses the lens of biomedical ethics and justice to examine the social determinants of health and health inequalities. He is currently examining social determinants such as poverty, deprivation, socioeconomic disadvantage, environmental and housing factors, and migrant status. He is also particularly interested in the health of the vulnerable populations, including migrant workers and rare disease patients. Additionally, he is conducting research on aging‐related issues, such as multimorbidity and long‐term/end‐of‐life care. Collectively, the purpose of his research is to inform health services and public policy, domestically and beyond. Roger is also the Co-Director of the CUHK Centre for Bioethics and Associate Director of the CUHK Institute of Health Equity, along with other accolades.

Padam Simkhada, MSc, PhD, is Professor of Global Health and Associate Dean for International Affairs at the School of Human and Health Sciences, University of Huddersfield.

Professor Simkhada’s research interests focus on various aspects of global health, particularly public health challenges in developing countries. He also has a strong interest in the internationalization of higher education. His current research areas include health systems research, maternal health, reproductive and sexual health, HIV/AIDS, and migration. He has methodological expertise in systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, and mixed-methods research.

He has published extensively in his field, including more than 150 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as numerous book chapters. Professor Simkhada has supervised many PhD students, with several currently undertaking doctoral research under his guidance. He is internationally recognized in the field of public health and has received several prestigious awards, including the Global Health Award 2013. He also has extensive international work experience across multiple countries.

Professor Simkhada completed his MSc in Public Health and Health Promotion at Brunel University London and earned his PhD from University of Southampton.

Before joining the University of Huddersfield, he served as Professor of International Health at Liverpool John Moores University from 2014 to 2019, Senior Lecturer in International Health at The University of Sheffield from 2010 to 2014, and Programme Coordinator and Lecturer in International Health at University of Aberdeen from 2002 to 2010.

Earlier in his career, he worked with Save the Children and the Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal.

Professor Simkhada also serves as a Visiting Professor at several institutions in Nepal, as well as at Bournemouth University and Liverpool John Moores University. In addition, he is an Adjunct Faculty member at Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences.

Amy Drassen Ham is a medical anthropologist with more than 25 years of experience in higher education. She earned a Master of Arts in Anthropology from Wichita State University (WSU), a Master of Public Health through a joint program between WSU and the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita, and a Ph.D. from University of Kansas in Lawrence. Dr. Drassen Ham’s research interests include person-centered care in healthcare education, as well as risk reduction and interprofessionalism.

During her career at WSU, Dr. Drassen Ham has contributed to the education of thousands of students. She has developed more than 40 courses across graduate, undergraduate, research, general education, honors, first-year seminar, applied capstone, and independent study programs. She has delivered instruction in telecourse, online, hybrid, in-person, presession, and microcredit formats, totaling more than 250 unique course offerings.

Dr. Drassen Ham is a Fellow of the Society for Applied Anthropology, a Tilford Diversity Commission Fellow, and a WSU Online Learning Faculty Fellow. She has received numerous honors, including the Excellence in Teaching Award (2009), the Rodenberg Excellence in Teaching Award (2016), the President’s Distinguished Service Award (2021), the Leadership in the Advancement of Teaching Award (2023), and the Virginia Lockhart Health Education Award (2023).
